Survey Results

Public Education / Healthcare – These are issues that over 90% of people who filled out the survey (Issues of Importance) indicated are important to them and MUST be important to our Representative. I can assure you that both issues are important to me!

In one week, 32 people completed the Issues of Importance survey. The majority, 91%, were from Dickinson County with the remaining responses coming from Marion (3%), Clay (3%) and Saline (3%) counties. I heard from a variety of political affiliations – which is important to me as a Representative must represent the voices of all people.

Survey respondents were given 13 items and asked to check which issue or issues were important to them. Every single person checked Public Education. In 2016, KNEA (Kansas National Education Association) endorsed me as the candidate who will best support education. Endorsements have not yet been made for the 2018 election cycle.

Over half of respondents stated Healthcare/Medicaid, Environment and the State Deficit were important issues for the 70th District Representative to focus on. *As I’ve been walking doors in our area, I continue to hear people say these are important as well as Veterans Issues, Agriculture, and decreasing or eliminating the Food Sales Tax.

Other issues included:

-“Due process for public employees”
-“Stop ENDLESS War! Stop toxic pesticides that harm people and bees! Heal the environment. Without clean air we die.”
-“Medical marijuana”
-“Gun control”
-“Gun violence, stricter regulations”

Finally, respondents identified which issue is most important to them. The top three were Public Education, Healthcare/Medicaid, and State Deficit.

Other issues included:

-“Gun control”
-“Gun violence”
-“Medical marijuana”
-“Responsible, evidence based policies”
